Harper McGarity

You want to know who I am. Fair enough.
I’m Harper McGarity, born in the foothills of North Georgia and still living close enough to hear the trees shift and the crows complaining every time the weather changes, which if you're familiar is about 14 times a day. I write about the kinds of stories most folks ignore. Cryptids. Local legends. The types of stories that don’t always make the news but have a way of finding us eventually and living rent-free in our minds forever.
The Curious Georgia series started because I couldn’t stop following rumors and secondhand memories. It blends true documented history, folklore from native mythology and settler superstition, and the kind of stuff that gets the quiet kid to lean forward with something to say. I don’t write just for true believers or only the diehard skeptics. I write for anyone who wants to know what might be out there, who likes a good what-if, or who just wants a few minutes away from the wackiness of our day-to-day.
These days I’m focused on fiction. Providence is the first novel in a new series called Buckthorn Pass. It’s set in a frontier town on the edge of collapse and follows a man with too much history and not enough time. There’s mystery, violence, a little justice. No easy answers.
When I’m not writing, I’m usually outdoors with my dogs, watching something offbeat with my partner, or getting caught in long conversations I wasn’t planning to have.
You can find me online if that’s your thing. If not, that’s fine too. The books are the important part.
Thanks for reading. Stay aware out there.
